When a fitter pulls an old window, the frame starts a journey most people never see. Here's what happens after a PVC Recovery UK collection.
Frames arrive stacked - deglazed where possible - and get loaded onto the collection vehicle with the rest of the load. Everything is counted and recorded against your electronic waste transfer note at the point of collection.
At the receiving site the material is separated: white profile from woodgrain and coloured foils, glass from frames, metal hardware (hinges, handles, locking mechanisms) from everything else. Clean, sorted uPVC is worth the most, which is why we ask loads to be stacked rather than smashed.
Sorted profile is granulated and cleaned. The resulting uPVC recyclate is a genuine raw material - it goes back into new profile production, often as the inner core of co-extruded window profiles, plus pipework, fittings and other building products.
Within 24 hours of collection you receive an electronic waste transfer note - your proof of compliant disposal for the job file, and for your customer if they ask.
Every frame recycled is a frame not landfilled. For fitters, that means: no disposal costs, full duty-of-care paperwork, and a sustainability story you can put in front of domestic customers and main contractors alike.
